Brad Hoefs has served as senior pastor since Community of Grace was formed. Pastor Brad graduated from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska with a bachelors degree in communications in 1979. He also graduated from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri with a Masters of Divinity in 1985. He served as a pastor in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod for 10 years. Having resigned from the roster of the LC-MS he then joined the roster of the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations: www.aflc.org. Pastor Brad Hoefs is committed to communicating the truth of God's word in a way and language that people can understand so that they might be able to apply it to their lives. He is a creative visionary type of leader and pastor. The call on his life is both to the local congregation and to serve the church at large. Thus, he not only serves as our senior pastor but he also heads a special ministry of Community of Grace called www.WorshipOutlet.com which offers creative worship resources to other churches. Rev. Bradley Hoefs was diagnosed in 1995 as suffering from Bipolar Disorder as a result of experiencing the very painful side of undiagnosed manic behavior. In return he and his family experienced the pain and hurt that churches and Christians can cause because of a lack of understanding and unwillingness to understand. For, when judgment is given instead of understanding a disease such as bipolar disorder and compassion is not offered it can leave a person and family devastated. It is that out of this experience that Pastor Brad Hoefs and Community of Grace have started www.Fresh Hope.us, which is a Christ centered support group for those who suffer from mood disorders as well as their loved ones.
Pastor Brad Hoefs is married to Donna Hoefs, who serves as the worship leader here at Community of Grace. The Brad and Donna Hoefs met in college and have been married for 29 years. They have two adult children who are each married and two grandchildren. The joy of Pastor Brad's life (besides the Lord and his wife of course) is to be Papa to those two grandchildren!
